Drug abuse has emerged as a serious area of concern in the US with the number of substance abusers increasing with each passing year. Once, you are caught in the vicious circle of drugs, quitting is not that easy because it requires much more than strong will and good intentions to achieve sobriety. Different drugs have different effects on the mind and body, and the trends of substance abuse change with the introduction of new drugs in the market.

Let’s have a look at latest drug use trends:-

Purple Drank
Purple drank is a beverage made using combination of soda and cough syrup. The drink is called purple drank owing to its hue. This concoction was very widely used in the 1960s and is making a big comeback this year. When consumed in high amounts, it can lead to cardiac arrest. This is the reason why some states have made it mandatory to produce IDs even while buying cough syrups.

Crack Cocaine
There are some “old favorites” which are taking back seat in the market. Crack cocaine is one of them. Excessive consumption can lead to uncontrollable aggression, disagreement and violence. Cocaine is still smuggled in many countries regularly.

Flakka (or alpha-PVP)
Flakka is often called as bath salts in common language. Consumption of Flakka (alpha-PVP) gives user an excited and incredible high experience instantly.  Flakka looks like pink or white crystal type material having awful odor. Users take it in different ways such as eating, snorting, injecting and vaporizing. Many people have tried or committed suicide when they didn’t get dose.

GBH (Liquid Ecstasy)
GBH better to call it ‘date rape drug’ that is common on party scenes. Drug is quite dangerous on its own and when mixed with alcohol it becomes poison. Person consuming GBH (Liquid Ecstasy) can have serious burns and even foam formation in the mouth.

While these drugs are becoming party favorites in the current year, the issue of drug addiction and rehabilitation is a serious one. Quapaw House is a behavioral health center in U.S. having certified therapists and doctors to help the addicts recover from their addiction by providing holistic treatment.
